Attorneys Brad Gould and Dana Apfelbaum Speak at Florida Agriculture Financial Management Conference

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Brad Gould and Dana Apfelbaum, attorneys at the law firm of Dean, Mead, Minton & Zwemer, were guest speakers at the 2015 Florida Agriculture Financial Management Conference (FAFMC) in Orlando, Florida on August 27, 2015.  Their presentation entitled, Tax and Succession Planning for Agricultural Businesses, provided the nearly 200 attendees with an overview of federal tax issues concerning farmers and agribusiness and tax efficient succession planning.

Now in its fifth year, FAFMC is a consortium of businesses and agricultural associations that provide educational programming to enhance Florida’s specialty crop industry.  A portion of the funding for the conference is provided by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) through a USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant.  The two day conference is geared toward farmers, land owners and agribusinesses on topics including economic forecasting, risk management, estate planning, water policy, food safety, regulatory issues and external factors influencing cash flow.

Gould practices in the area of federal income, estate, and gift tax law and business succession planning. He represents businesses and business owners in all types of business and tax matters, including choice of entity, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, and other general business matters. Gould represents individuals, businesses and fiduciaries before the Internal Revenue Service and also counsels clients on estate and wealth preservation planning matters.  Gould is an active member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, where he has served on the Board of Governors since 2012 and joined its Executive Committee in July 2015. He’s an attorney and a licensed CPA.

Apfelbaum practices in the areas of federal income, estate, and gift tax law and family business succession planning.  She counsels individuals in estate planning, with an emphasis on implementing the client’s objectives, asset protection and minimizing wealth transfer taxes. Apfelbaum also represents fiduciaries through all stages of probate, estate and trust administration.  In addition, she represents businesses and business owners in all types of business and tax matters, including choice of entity, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations and succession planning.
