Michael Minton is Chair of Dean Mead’s Agribusiness and Solar Energy Industry Teams. He represents family businesses with an emphasis on generationally-owned agricultural businesses. He assists with their organizational structure, federal income, estate and gift tax planning and business succession planning. He offers his clients extensive experience focusing on tax issues related to agribusiness, as well as water resource issues and new innovative uses of land for value -added propositions.

Mr. Minton’s clients receive the benefit of his more than 35 years of experience in Florida agri-business and interaction with agencies that regulate the utilization and optimization of their assets and business opportunities. Included among his multiple business and civic activities related to his professional experience, Mr. Minton is a member of the Water Resource Assessment Team (WRAT) of the Central Florida Water Initiative, and he is a past Vice-Chair of the Governing Board for the South Florida Water Management District. He continues to be involved in water-related issues across the State of Florida.

In addition to the aforementioned, Mr. Minton is Immediate Past Chair of the Tax Section of The Florida Bar. He also is a member of the Board of Directors for the Orlando Economic Partnership, University of Florida Foundation, Florida Tax Watch and Florida Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trustees for Martin Memorial Health System. Mr. Minton is past Chair of the Florida Alumni Tax Advisory Committee for the University of Florida Law Center Association, Inc., as well as past Chair of its Board of Trustees. Nichole M. Mooney

Nicky Mooney

Nicky Mooney is a shareholder and employment law attorney in Dean Mead’s Litigation department. She represents individuals and businesses of all sizes in business litigation and employment related issues. Her representation includes drafting employment and severance contracts, drafting handbooks and policies, and counseling and representing employers in litigation regarding all types of employee actions, rights and obligations, including, but not limited to, wage and hour questions and disputes, FMLA issues, claims of discrimination, retaliation, theft of trade secrets, and all other manner of employment related litigation under Florida and federal law. Ms. Mooney also addresses claims regarding restrictive covenants including non-compete agreements, trade secrets litigation and protection of confidential information.

In addition, Ms. Mooney is involved in all areas of complex business litigation in both state and federal courts ranging from simple contract disputes to issues arising from the dissolution of a business entity and derivative litigation. Ms. Mooney has state and federal courtroom experience in both jury and non-jury trials. She also has experience in administrative proceedings with the EEOC, Florida Commission on Human Relations and Orlando Human Relations Department.

John Moore is both a Certified Public Accountant and a Florida Supreme Court certified Circuit Civil Mediator. He focuses his practice in the areas of estate planning and administration and other personal wealth management issues. John is a frequent Continuing Legal Education and motivational speaker. He presents programs on practice management, personal development, charitable planning, as well as financial, taxation and estate planning matters to bar associations, law schools, law firms and charitable organizations throughout the United States.

A long-time member of the Vero Beach community, Mr. Moore was raised on the Treasure Coast and has been involved with a variety of organizations serving the community. Michael Roy

Michael Roy practices in the firm’s Estate and Succession Planning department where he focuses on estate and trust administration matters and the development of estate plans. He handles the traditional aspects of personal estate planning, including the preparation of revocable trusts, wills, and irrevocable trusts, and works closely with clients to plan for the succession of family businesses and wealth among generations in a tax efficient manner. Mr. Roy also advises clients in the implementation of estate plans following a person’s passing, including related probate and estate tax matters.

His practice extends to charitable organizations, particularly the establishment of tax-exempt status, annual income tax returns, solicitation of contributions registrations, and other charitable organization compliance matters.

Mr. Roy earned his law degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law with a concentration in Tax, where he served as a student practitioner counseling clients at Quinnipiac’s low-income taxpayer clinic. He also served as Treasurer of the Public Interest Law Project, an organization dedicated to raising funds to support law students working in public interest positions. During his time in law school, he earned awards for outstanding legal scholarship, excellence in clinical work and the highest grade in his Estate and Financial Planning course.

Mr. Roy has a Master of Laws degree in Estate Planning from the University of Miami’s Heckerling Graduate Program.
