As legislative session is in full swing, our government relations team is hard at work advocating legislation to secure wins for our clients. In the GOP-sponsored tax legislation Monday at the House of Ways and Means subcommittee, Chris Moya testified on the bill, representing the American Rental Association, where about 113 Florida businesses in that association would benefit from HB 751.
This proposal would alter the way heavy construction equipment is taxed by local municipalities. According to an article in Florida Politics, the legislation would reclassify construction equipment available for short-term rental as inventory, which is exempt from an ad valorem tax. You can read the full article on the bill here.
The legislation cleared the committee in a 14-3 vote. Our team will continue to monitor this bill and others during the legislative session. For additional information on our lobbying team, visit our Government Relations page.
