Effective December 26, reporting companies are not currently required to comply with the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) and related reporting obligations.
An injunction of the CTA, as ordered by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, follows an ongoing debate within the courts regarding the constitutionality of the reporting requirement. This decision follows a December 23 announcement from the Financial Crime Enforcement Network (FinCEN), who released updated CTA filing deadlines on December 23 following a prior court’s decision.
Additional appeals are anticipated.
