Dean Mead was a partner sponsor for the 51st Annual Southern Federal Tax Institute held at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead, September 19-23. Shareholder Charlie H. Egerton presented during the ‘What’s New in the Income Tax World?’ sessions on Monday, September 19, 2016. His presentation topic “Optimizing Capital Gains Tax Rates in Sales Transactions” focused on rates, holding periods, netting rules, and the investor/dealer distinction. Mr. Egerton explored possible ways to convert high rate gain into low rate gain, and low rate losses into high rate losses.
