Follow Up to Citrus Canker Newsletter Volume #9

As a follow up to Citrus Canker Newsletter Volume #9 regarding the press release issued by Stallings Crop Insurance Corporation in Lakeland, below is a statement issued last Friday (3/31/06) on intrastate fruit movement. Also included below is a request from the Indian River Citrus League for lesioned fruit for Dr. Tim Gottwald’s packing house tests.

INTRASTATE FRUIT MOVEMENT

“The state has received clarification from the USDA related to the intrastate movement of citrus. The Citrus Health Response Plan recommends no restrictions on the intrastate movement of citrus fruit out of quarantine areas for processing into a product other than fresh fruit, as long as the shipment is accompanied by the required trip ticket, and other compliance agreement requirements are met. For more information on fruit movement requirements, contact your local citrus canker office.”
