(Orlando, FL) Dean Mead Attorney and Shareholder Michael D. Minton was honored by The Florida Bar Tax Section as the 2023 – 2024 Gerald T. Hart Outstanding Tax Attorney of the Year at the Section’s meeting in Orlando, Florida on September 30, 2023. He is the first resident from the Treasure Coast of Florida to receive this award.
The Tax Section of The Florida Bar annually selects the professional who has made major contributions to the advancement of the practice of tax law and who exemplifies the highest standards of competence and integrity.

It is my true pleasure to honor Michael with this award.”
Michael is a triple University of Florida (UF) graduate, awarded a Master of Laws in Taxation in 1982, a Juris Doctor in 1981, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Agriculture in 1979. Throughout his 40+ year career he has represented family enterprises with an emphasis on generationally owned agricultural businesses.
He served as a past Chair of the UF College of Law Center of Association, Inc. Board of Trustees and Florida Alumni Tax Advisory Committee. An emeritus Board Member of the UF Foundation, Michael currently services on the Board for Gator Boosters, Inc. For 30 years he has served as a Board Member of the Indian River State College Foundation, Inc. and currently serves on the Board for Florida Tax Watch and the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
Included among Michael’s numerous business and civic activities, he is a member of the Water Resource Assessment Team of the Central Florida Water Initiative, and a past Vice-Chair of the Governing Board for the South Florida Water Management District. Michael was instrumental in the successful launch of the UCF School of Medicine. He has been recognized each year by Florida Trend, one of America’s most award-winning business publications, as one of the most influential attorneys in Florida.
