MINTON APPOINTED TO HARBOR BRANCH OCEANOGRAPHIC INSTITUTE FOUNDATION BOARD
Fort Pierce, Fla., – Michael D. Minton, a shareholder with the law firm of Dean, Mead, Minton & Zwemer, was recently appointed to the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Foundation Board. Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute (HBOI) is a research institute of Florida Atlantic University and conducts ocean-related exploration, research, education and conservation.
Minton is president of Dean Mead. He joined the firm in 1982 and established the firm’s Fort Pierce office in 1987. He is a native of Fort Pierce, where his family is a well-known citrus grower in the region. Minton is active in the Fort Pierce community and is a member and previous chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Indian River State College Foundation, Inc. In addition, he has served as the legal advisor to the Treasure Coast Agricultural Research Foundation, Inc., a member of the Governor’s Committee for a Sustainable Treasure Coast and a past vice chairman of the South Florida Water Management District Governing Board. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the University of Florida College of Law.
Minton practices in the area of Federal income tax, estate, and gift tax law and family business succession planning. In addition, he has developed extensive experience and knowledge in agricultural and resource management law. He is chair of the firm’s Agribusiness Law Team and recently presented a seminar on Taxation of Carbon Credits in Agriculture. Minton earned his Master of Laws in Taxation, law and undergraduate degrees from the University of Florida and frequently returns to UF’s law school as a guest lecturer on business succession planning.
