Regulatory Challenges for Oil and Gas Law in Florida
When it comes to drilling, businesses should be aware that the state Department of Environmental Protection and local governments heavily regulate these activities in Florida. Our attorneys have advised industry leaders on the wide variety of issues that can evolve from this area of law and how to be proactive in the resolution of such issues. Examples of how we have helped oil and gas clients include obtaining and litigating to secure geophysical exploration permits, well drilling and operating permits, recertifications, field unitization, correlative rights, and hydrocarbon transportation and storage.
Local Government Relationships & Experience
Our team has many established relationships with leaders in local governments who influence decisions over community land use rules and regulations. In conjunction with these relationships, our team works to educate the community to allay local concerns about the effects of drilling on the local environment and treasured Florida beaches.
Our attorneys actively educate the community on oil and gas law. Timothy Riley teaches Oil & Gas Law at Florida State University’s College of Law and lectures at multiple environmental conferences. Richard Brightman is active in the Florida Bar’s Environmental and Land Use Law section.
Florida remains a largely untapped oil and gas market with ample opportunities for landowners. Our attorneys are here to help you realize additional value from your land and navigate the legal complexities of Florida oil and gas law.
